Since its foundation in 1952, we, Fukuinkan Shoten Publishers, Inc. have specialized in the publications of children's books and books about children for over 70 years.

Above all, we believe that picture books are not meant for children to read, but rather for adults to read to their children. We believe that, by repeatedly reading aloud, children can fully enjoy the world of picture books and develop warm spirit. That's why we consider picture books should have its excellency, created with the utmost dedication by top contemporary authors and illustrators, which deeply touches both adults and children. This mindset has consistently been our fundamental attitude.

About the books for this website

What we are exhibiting here are mostly slightly older picture books published in the 1980s. In fact, we don't know yet what kinds of things Kenyan children prefer. However, despite the rapidly changing environment surrounding children, these books are still very popular among children in Japan today. Therefore, we decided to exhibit them, thinking that these books might have some universal appeal and Kenyan children might enjoy them as well. We would be delighted if you could pick them up, read them, and share your thoughts with us.
